1940. Framed. Near Fine. (1882 - 1945) Thirty-second President of the United States who instituted the "New Deal" programs and who led the United States through most of World War II. Beautiful framed partly-printed D.S. as president, 1p. folio, Washington, Sep. 27, 1940, appointment of Maurice M. Milligan to serve as U.S. Attorney in the Western District of Missouri. Co-signed by ROBERT H. JACKSON (1892-1954) as Attorney General. Jackson also served as a Supreme Court Associate Justice and further assumed the role of chief U.S. prosecutor at the Nuremberg war crimes trials. This document was signed on the very day that Germany, Italy and Japan signed the Tripartite Agreement assuring each of mutual defense. Extravagantly double matted in black with white velvet and gold wood trim, an image of F.D.R., and brass descriptive plaque, set into a large faux wood frame.
