The scarce first edition of this work.Signed postcard of the author adhered to the verso to the front endpaper, inscribed 'Yours truly, Edwin Harris, 151 Eastgate, Rochester'. The postcard depicts a portrait of the author in his masonic regalia.A beautiful work detailing the history of Gads Hill Place, and it's association with the noted Victorian author Charles Dickens.Gads Hill Place is a country home in Higham, Kent. Dickens often saw the house as a child, and bought it in his forties after he had risen to fame and wealth.Including a comprehensive list of all the houses Dickens' lived in with dates.Illustrated with a frontispiece, and fourteen plates.Collated, complete.By Edwin Harris.Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper, 'To Mr. Thorpe with best wishes Christmas 1910, From his friend F. E. Rogers'. In the original publisher's morocco binding. Externally, sound. Backstrip is detached but present, modern label noting the title to the spine. Bumping and a little loss of leather to the extremities. Light marks to the boards. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper.
