About This Item

London: Chatto & Windus; Hurst & Blackett LTD; John Leng &, CO, LTD, 1928-1938. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Good. 7.5" by 5". None. A wonderful collection of three novels, each depicting the adventures and excitement of a young female protagonist. A charming collection of three novels, each in the original publisher's cloth binding with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Galatea is the first edition of the work. Just Lil (c1935) and The Honourable Anne (c1938) are undated, being circa dated from similar copies found online. Just Lil is stated as the 32nd thousand copy to the title page. These novels each follow the life of a different woman; in Galatea we are introduced to Emmeline Wynter, who comes into some money and suddenly becomes an heiress. In The Honourable Anne, Mitchell follows the interesting life of Anne and her potential suitors and choices. Just Lil follows the story of Lil, a rebellious and loveable girl from London who lives her life with love and humour. These novels were written by Agnes C. Mitchell, Margaret Rivers Larminie and Oliver Sandys, which was the pseudonym of British writer and actress Marguerite Florence Laura Jarvis. In the original publisher's cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, excellent, with light bumping to the extremities. The occasional mark to boards, with a circle mark to the front board of Galatea. Age toning and offsetting to endpapers. Dust wrappers in good condition, with chipping and the odd tear, mainly to the spine head and tail and to the extremities of The Honourable Anne and Galatea. Sunning to the spine of Galatea and The Honourable Anne. Tape to the corners and hinge of the wrap of Just Lil. The odd mark to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
