About This Item

From "What is a Ghost Town?":

"One of several dictionary definitions of "ghost" is "a shadowy semblance of its former self." We have elected to prefer this somewhat ambiguous phrase, because it accurately describes many towns on the borderline of being dead or alive. Most of the towns described and pictured in this book are "dead" ghosts, but some still have life, though nothing to compare with the lusty vigor thye enjoyed in their heyday."

The book covers Alaska, the Yukon, British Columbia, Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Oregon, and Washington. Lots of black and white photographs.

Book - Good+ condition. Brown paper over boards with gold gilt text on spine. Very little edge/corner wear, but there are a few light stains/spots. There is also a slight twist that I expect will be resolved with proper shelving. Text is clean and binding is good. This is a thick and super heavy book. I have allowed for the additional postage cost in the price of the book.

Dust Jacket - Poor condition. Some rubbing, LOTS of edge and corner wear. Missing chipped pieces, creases and small tears. Now in Brodart cover.

Reviews

On Jul 10 2020, a reader said:
I have had my copy of this book for over 40 years and I still get enjoyment looking at the Ghost Towns, and just being amazed as to how many there are out West. If you enjoy going down memory lane and seeing how towns were 150 years ago, then this is the book for you.
