[New York]: Albert & Charles Boni, 1936. Revised Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good/Good+. 8vo. Pp. x, 488. Index. Bound in gray cloth with red lettering stamped on spine. A few leaves with marginalia check marks. Bookplate on front free-endpaper; offsetting to endpapers. Dust jacket with chips, notably at head of spine. Sinclair's indictment of the higher education system in the US; he lambastes the placement of titans of industry, especially robber barons, as university trustees. Regarding the University of Washington, Sinclair takes aim at Colonel Blethen, publisher of the Seattle Times, "an exceptional old scoundrel" who donated chimes that used to ring from a bell tower on the north end of the campus. With reference to the Centralia Massacre in which Wobbly Wesley Everest was murdered. Also includes a chapter of invective directed at "Professor" Billy Sunday. Presented here in the uncommon dust jacket featuring a top-notch illustration, uncredited.
