NY: Longmans, Green, 1942. First Edition . Hardcover. Collectible; G. Henry S. Gillette. 1st edition, SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR on the half-title page. There is also a note written on the front endpaper: "13 January 1943. It is up to you, whatever you want to make or do with yourselves. This is the United States with a real Bill of Rights. From one Vermont boy to a lot of Vermont boys and girls. Raresou (?) H. Holcomb born 12 March 1887." 8vo, orange cloth with black illustration and lettering, illustrated endpapers, 199 pages, b/w chapter heading illustrations. GOOD / no jacket: some glue residue on endpapers (a former library book? but there are no other markings), spine head is frayed, slightly cocked, corners rubbed, soiling to top page edge and a name written on bottom edge, mostly clean internally with a few scattered smudges.
