Original ribbed green cloth, gilt, lightly fishmothed, cloth at head and tail of spine and one or two corners slightly chipped, pp. xvi + 318 + (2: publisher's advertisements), frontispiece, text-illustrations, plates, fold-out map. Top edge gilt, other edges uncut, ownership inscriptions on the front free endpaper, endpapers and edges slightly foxed. .
