About This Item
1961. WELTY, Eudora. HENRY GREEN: A NOVELIST OF THE IMAGINATION. Reprinted from the Texas Quarterly, Special Issue: Britain 2, Autumn 1961. Small quarto, printed wraps, retaining the original quarterly pagination: pages 246-256. The is the British offprint, probably for the author's own use and usually limited to about 25 to 50 copies. [Polk C26]. This essay was later collected in some of Welty's later books. Green was a contemporary of Welty's and one of her favorite authors. Signed presentation from Welty on the front endpaper: "Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. With best wishes & affection to Edward and Meta from Eudora. I often think of you, please let us write-." With the ink signature of "Meta Malins" on the front cover- believed to be the wife of Yeats scholar Edward Malins, but I have not been able to confirm the association. Very Good (some minor foxing & wear, light fold down the center- from mailing?). Scarce! $475.00.
