About This Item
Hardcover first edition with dust jacket, published April 1939, by The Literary Guild. A collection of 24 short stories, including her O. Henry award winning, 'Big Blonde', as well as 'Horsie', 'Lady With a Lamp', 'Just a Little One', 'The Sexes', and more. Includes the stories that were included in her first two collections as well as three additional stories that had not been collected previously. The dust jacket has been price clipped, it also has a large chip to the spine - a triangular 3 inch long chip. Short closed tear at the top - about 1/2 inch, just above the second 'E' in 'Here', and a 1 inch tear at the back near the top left edge - rubbing and edge wear throughout too. Green cloth covered boards with the author name and title within a stylized black and gold field on the spine - all lettering and design elements are intact and not rubbed or worn. Slight faded stain mar at the head of the spine - about 1/2 inch long. Age tanning to the pastedown and ffep - both front and back. Stain mark to the gutter at the back, half inch wide from top to bottom. Boards are not edge worn and the corners are not bumped or creased. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. The binding is tight, all pages are intact. Very slight spine lean, some fading to the green topstain, and some spots of staining to the edges of the text block. A solid copy of this rare volume, still attractive enough for display. Attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.

Let us know, we'd love to hear from you! Do you want to see a photo of a book before you order it ? We try to post as many photos as possbiel, but sometimes there will be a item in inventory that does not show a photo here. So feel free to ask for photos, we don't mind at all. We package all of our orders carefully either in a box that has been designed to ship books, or in a padded envelope. We want to make sure you receive your order in the best possible condition! Our preferred shipping method is USPS Media Mail. Recently, the USPS has added tracking to Media Mail , which has been a great addition to this service. If you do choose to have your order shipped "Expedited", my shipping cost may seem higher than expected. Some of our books are large format hardcovers that can cost quite a bit when shipped expedited. So I would like to make sure that I can cover the cost upfront. However, if the actual cost of expedited shipping is less than the charge, I will refund the difference!
