About This Item

Tokyo: Kodansha, 1985. First Edition. Quarto (25.5cm); pictorial paper wrappers, in identically illustrated dustwrapper; [319pp]. Wrappers soiled, smudged and worn; top edges creased, rolling slightly; pages toned along margins; overall Very Good, sound.

Katsu Yoshida, described within as "Japan's Top Illustrator", named the English version of his art book High Coup, as a pun on the word "Haiku". While Yoshida is also known for his landscapes, this book is primarily a showcase for his highly expressive celebrity art, many of it featured in the pages of Rolling Stone and and Playboy magazines. He has also designed magazine and album covers, concert posters, and more. Includes information about the artist and his work, translated into English.
