Philadelphia, PA: Bradley & Company, 1863. Hardcover. Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, two volume set published one year apart in original binding. Exterior on both books are in rough shape with volume one being the worst. Both are bound in brown buckram decorated with gilt and blind stamped on front and rear. Volume ones front board is loose and only partially attached, spine has heavy chipping at top and bottom and along both hinges. Volume two is in better shape but that but still only grades as fair to fair plus, the boards are more secure but exterior hinge is still show cracks as do corners. The interior pages on both volumes are complete and attached. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings or underlining found. Pages are toned due to age and foxing is present. But the front and rear end pages on volume one show tears and holes where they stuck together and the second blank end page also shows tears. The total number of pages of both books is 1023 (volume first 512pp., volume second 511 pp.). Volume 1 was published in 1863 and v2 was published 1864. See photos. Purchases will ship by US Media Mail or Priority Mail (if buyer selects) and higher priced items may have insured placed on the order and will typically ship within one business day. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 5 lbs., but only in unusual cases. Insurance is available upon request though we normally place insurance on any item of $75 or higher at no additional cost to the buyer. Non-US sales will ship by First Class International or Global Priority. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 4 lbs.

We always take extra care in packaging and shipping. Books are typically wrapped in packing paper or bubblewrap before packaged in a sturdt shipping box. All orders, even those shipped by US Media Mail, will be given a USPS tracking number which will be sent to the buyer so they will know when to expect arrival. Please let us know if there is a book with incorrect or missing photos. We recently moved the inventory to Biblio and a title or two may have had issues with the photos being transferred over.

If the description has typos ("and pages" instead of "end pages", pace downs instead of pastedowns, guilt instead of gilt, etc,) PLEASE let me know so I can correct the listing. About Yesterday's Book Shop (Member IOBA)

Yesterday's Book Shop is an independent, family-owned establishment. The store first opened in 1966 under the name Collector's Corner and was located in Western Maryland. The Collector's Corner dealt mainly in books but also sold stamps and assorted ephemera. In 1975 the name was changed to Yesterday's Book Shop when the store only offered books and printed matter. In the early 2000s the brick and mortar store was closed and now we only sell online.

All of the book pictures were taken at the time the book was listed and we never use generic or stock photos in any listing. If you would like additional photos or information on any listing please let us know and we will be more than happy to comply.
