J.B. Lippincott, 1864. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. First Editions, Later Printings (Dates of 1864 on title page of each volume). Published by J.B. Lippincott, 1843-1845. Octavos. Bound in contemporary three-quarter brown morocco over marbled boards with five raised spine bands, gilt stamping and decoration to spine. Marbled stained page ends and flyleafs. Illustrated frontispieces present in each volume with tissue guards intact (Cortz, Montezuma, Cortez & Prescott). Books are very good; clean with no writing, names or ownership bookplates/stamps. Bindings are sound and pages crisp. Spine leather has some light crackling starting, but no pieces chipped or falling off. Some light shelf/edge wear along board edges. Includes the three volumes of the text as well as the 4th volume of "Biographical & Critical Miscellanies". A lovely set of these early printings of this landmark history. 2,221 total pages.
