In original Brown cloth covers with blind stamped decoration to fronts, backs and spines. Gilt Lettering to spines. Page edges untrimmed. Vols I and II dated 1849 on Title Pages and printed without indexes (seperately published). Vol I, 669 Pages + Advert. Vol II, 670 Pages + Adverts. Vol III dated 1855, 764 Pages (including Index to Third Volume + Adverts. Vol IV, dated 1855, 836 Pages, including Index to Fourth Volume. Vol. V, dated 1861, 398 Pages, including Index for all volumes, + Adverts. 9" Tall. From the collection of Edmund Backhouse, his Bookplates paseted to endpapers and his inscription on 2 volumes. No other inscriptions. Pages in very good, clean condition. Cloth has some fading, mainly around spines (see photos). A few nicks and very small tears to cloth at spine ends and a few corner tips. Fine cracks to rear hinge on 2 vols. Bindings firm. Set weighs 5.2 Kilos so Shipping outside UK will be extra. Please ask if you would like more Pictures, Information or a Shipping Quote.
