An attractively bound and impressively detailed historical study of the Peninsular War, a military conflict fought between 1807 and 1814, as European powers fought for control of the Iberian Peninsula during the Napoleonic Wars. Written by Sir William Francis Patrick Napier, an important military historian, as well as a soldier in the British Army. His military histories are stated by the Encyclopaedia Britannica to be 'incomparably superior to any other English writer' in the eleventh edition.A new edition of this work, originally published between 1832 and 1840. Complete in six volumes.Illustrated with fifty-three plates. Collated and complete. Handsomely and uniformly bound in half calf with marbled boards and gilt detailing to the spines.
