Engraved title page from 1614 Edition followed by 1628 title page which has the engraved Raleigh portrait used in frontis of other editions. This copy has all 8 double page maps, the last two being battle plans. Maps in good condition. 26 page Chronological table at rear followed by Table of Contents. Bookplate of Sir William Coles Medlycott, Ven House on front pastedown and his signature on first blank page. 1823 inscription on verso of 1614 title page. Also laid in is a copy Sir Walter Raleigh's letter to his wife prior to his execution. The book is in Good condition. Front cover is detached but held on by internal binding tape. Back cover solid. There is some pencil underlining and notating throughout but mostly in first part of text otherwise internal pages in good shape. Chip missing from top of spine. Photos upon request.

With the engraved title-page and the "Minde of the Frontispiece" leaf, and 8 double-page plates and maps as issued, and with a great profusion of decorated multi-line initials throughout and charts and decorations in the text. Folio (12.75 by 8.25 inches), very handsomely bound in dark honey-brown morocco, the covers with triple blind fillet rules at the borders, surrounding a central panel ruled in blind and with fleurons in the corners. The spine is designed in six compartments, each with a fleuron in blind, and with a red morocco label lettered in gilt.
