Published by Methuen & co. London in 1928. 8vo. This smart first edition is in Very Good+ condition. Bound in the original salmon pink boards with gold gilt detailing, there is some slight fading to the edges and spine, which also has a small lean to it. There is also some minor bumping to the edges and spine ends and a 3mm mark to the top front edge. Inside, there is some toning to the free endpapers and some very slight age spotting and toning to the pages, but mostly restricted to the page rims, with the pages themselves in clean, bright condition and free from damage. Apart from these minor points, this is a very tidy and collectible copy of this beloved first edition and the pages are predominantly clean and bright.
The dust jacket is in Very Good condition. There is some bumping and chipping to the edges with only some slight loss at the spine ends and board corners. There is some rubbing to the spine and panels and minor water stain and soiling to the rear panel. Other than this, the jacket retains its original colour and is in quite smart condition, a rare find for a much loved children's book such as this and, as such very collectible. It is now housed in a plastic cover to protect it from any further damage.
Over all, this is a lovely, smart first edition of this timeless classic by the ever-popular author, A. A. Milne and will be a book to treasure by generations for years to come. This copy is in very collectible condition and would be an excellent to any rare book collection. Please see photos for further details, as the issues listed are minor and barely detract from this lovely first edition.

New York: Rinehart & Company, 1948. First Edition. Original Wraps. Very Good. Advanced Review Copy in self wrappers. A Very Good copy of this scarce edition of Mailer's first novel. Book appears gently read, with concave spine and gentle rubbing to edges of the wraps. Faint odor and mild soiling to book, but no internal markings or major blemishes. A high spot of military literature, the gritty account of a recon platoon scouting an enemy position during WWII. Raoul Walsh directed the 1958 film of the same name starring Aldo Ray, Cliff Robertson and Raymond Massey. Additional photos available upon request. Very Good.

Description:
New York: Random House, 1959. Book. Illus. by Sam March (dust jacket design). Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition.. Small octavo. Humes's second novel, following 'The Underground City,' both of which led to his being considered by Esquire magazine as having the same promise as two obscure guys named Updike and Styron (whoever they are). Anyway, he met a guy named Leary who introduced him to a little substance known as LSD, and after seriously indulging his fondness for the hallucinogen he became a trifle paranoid and a bit delusional, which pretty much ended his writing career. Humes was co-founder (with Peter Matthiessen and George Plimpton) of The Paris Review. He died of prostate cancer in 1992. Black cloth w/gilt lettering, 184 pages. Mildly cocked, light general wear, in price-clipped dust jacket w/light rubbing, light edgewear, creases to fore-edges of both flaps..
