Light blue endpapers; color illustrations on every page. Corners and spine ends slightly rubbed, covers lightly foxed and discolored, rubbed area on front panel, endpapers discolored, else an internally clean, tight copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (a bit worn at edges, some creasing and soiling).
First edition. A brilliant copy of this scarce book. The fifth of eight collaborations between these two giants of children's books, issued three years after their Caldecott Honor winning A Very Special House. Ruth Krauss' poetic text describes a young boy's wish to paint his bathroom blue (nixed by his Dad) and further descriptions of the kind of house he'd build if he had his druthers. Sendak's watercolors sing!
