About This Item

Jose Domingo Elias, Barcelona, 1973. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Fair. Inscribed by Author. 'Upon his arrival in Ibiza with his wife Linda in the 1970s, Keeler’s camera soon became trained upon the fascinating social climate of the era, when counterculture hippies and the stoic payés community of the island existed in a near-perfect vision of harmony. His subjects – the lean, tanned, barely-dressed flowerchildren and their stern-faced, black-clad, campo-dwelling Ibicenco counterparts – were diametrically opposed to one another, yet exist together in Keeler’s images as two sides of the same magic'. The short textual content is by David Walsh. An interesting copy of this 'cult classic', as people refer to it today. Inscribed/signed by Keeler on the front free endpaper 'To Harvill Press Library - Nov. 85 Tony Keeler'. Loosely enclosed is a folded black and white poster with a large Keeler photo with an Ibizan setting, an image not used in the book. The poster is also signed 'Keeler 85'. A single real photograph has been taped onto a blank page within the book. It is now detached. Whether it is on Ibiza or by Keeler I know not. The book is clean, tight, sound and presentable. The dust jacket is quite yellowed and shows wear to most edges. The poster is folded and thus has strong fold lines. When folded one of the visible blank sides has some children's scribble in biro. This does not show through when looking at the printed side. Not paginated - there are 38 printed leaves so around 76 pages, most with a Keeler shot. Approx. size is height 13" and width 13". Heavy item - overseas customers please enquire re shipping costs. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Photography; Inscribed by Author. ISBN: 8430058915. ISBN/EAN: 9788430058914.
