London: Charles Tilt, 1932. Book. Very Good. Cloth. First Edition. 12mo. Cloth gold cloth covered boards All edges gilt. viii, 82, 6 (ads). A scarce compilation of engravings from the original plates of Cruikshank's popular satirical illustrations for Smollett, Fielding (including "Tom Jones") and Goldsmith. This copy lacks the very first plate. Otherwise complete the images are all unmarked and without creases or tears. Occasional light foxing or offsetting. 3 plates of the last 10- show dark browning around margins. The binding is painted with a soarse heavy gold color and the hinges have been reinforced (or this is a rebinding). The interior and images are very good to near fine. Uncommon..
