Eighth novel by Benjamin Disraeli, first published in 1834 before he became Prime Minister of Great Britain, following Pluto whisks Proserpine, daughter of Jupiter, away to Hades.One of eight hundred copies printed for sale, this number three hundred and seventy three. Nos. 1-200 were signed by the artist. Illustrated with lovely decorations by John Austen, including black and white plates and headpieces as well as a coloured frontispiece.From the library of Egerton Parker, with his pictorial bookplate to front free endpaper. In the original publisher's quarter vellum binding over cloth covered boards. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear only, back strip lightly marked. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
