Edinburgh: Douglas & Foulis, 1948. William Alexander (1826-1894) published his classic memoir of life in Aberdeenshire serially in 1869-70; a perenial favorite, it has been republished many times. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the Twenty-Second Edition, from 1948. A very attractive small volume, with a decorative green cloth binding and gilt lettering and decorations on the spine. Clean text; xxix, 285 pages; with a Glossary. Introduction and Appreciation by Alexander Mackie; 12 illustartions, including a frontis portrait, by Sir George Reid. Hints of rubbing at the tips, very slightly splayed, some light pencil underlining. Signed by Author. Reprint Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
