First edition, Large Paper Issue. 548pp. Large engraved map 77 x 66 cm., covers the area of Lodak and Chinese Empire at the North, and Lake Mantullaee at the far Eastern edge; and down to Surmore and Urhwal at the Southernmost direction, with much detail devoted to all areas in between. Half-title. Large 4to (13-1/4 x 10-1/4 inches [33.6 cm x 26 cm] ). Large Paper Copy. Scotsman James Baillie Fraser (1783-1856)and his brother William made the journey through Northern India, Nepal & Tibet. Both were significant artists. James he was the first European to reach Gangotri. They tried to find the sources of the Ganges and Yamuna Rivers.
