About This Item

Amsterdam & Venice: sumptibus Iacobi Bertani / Basilius, 1751. Hardcover. Very Good. Two volumes bound in one, 6 inches / 15 cm tall, bound in elaborately gilt tooled full contemporary calf, gilded edges to text block with slight gauffering. Very good, title page to the Seneca volume worn with old tape stains, now backed with japanese paper, newer laid paper flyleaf, text otherwise very good and bright, same with the second volume. 476 / 170 (1) pp. Farnaby was an important English classical scholar (1575-1647); Resch was one of the more important intellectuals of 18th century Tyrol. Housed in more modern quarter calf and marbled boards slipcase. Small label from a 19th century seller of books, etc., in Scottdale, PA (Fayette County).
