Boston. Thomas Lawson. 1902. Bound in pictorial gilt decorated cloth. Thick 4to (8" x 12"). The First Edition. This book was published for private distribution only in an Edition of 3000 numbered copies of which this is number 2495. Illustrated with 86 of 89 full page tissue-guarded chromolithographic and monochromatic plates. Covers soiled with sunning to spine (gilt still whole and bright). Very mild foxing to front and rear endsheets. This copy lacks 3 plates at pages 121, 140 and 269. Repair to gutter at site of removed plate (269), else a Very Good, tight, crisp copy with bright, clear plates. Due to the lack of 3 plates, an excellent opportunity to acquire this most desirable nautical title at a greatly reduced price.
