Nashville, Tennessee: Stevenson and Evans, 1856. First Edition. Cloth . Fair/No Jacket As Issued. [5'x 7 &3/4'] Brown, decorative blindstamped cloth with gilt titles on spine. Heavy wear along board edges. Corners bumped and a bit rounded and bruise with interior cardstock exposed, Frayed at head & base of spine. One inch split starting at top of front fold and 3/8th inch at top rear fold. Grease paint library marking near spine base. Carnegie Library of Atlana 1899 bookplate affixed front pastedown. Just above on same page is a small bookplate preceding the library plate: 'The Property of J. Henry Smith, Washington, DC, 36 Oct., 1857,' Tanning, darkening & soiling on end papers front and rear. Library pocket with date slip affixed to rear free end page. There is plenty of foxing, spotting and marginal markings throughout the text. [328 pages]
