Imitation cloth, dj, F/VG. xvi+462pp, 8pp colour plates, 15 b/w maps, index, damage to thetop R corner of the dustjacket where a sticker has been removed, dustjacket edges a little worn otherwise a fine copy. A history of the 60,000 or so Americans who were loyal to Great Britain and felt the need to leave America following the final departure of the British Army from America in 1783. These refugees travelled to other Briitish colonies to start afresh & rebuild their lives.

Synopsis

Maya Jasanoff was educated at Harvard, Cambridge, and Yale, and is currently an associate professor of history at Harvard University. Her first book, Edge of Empire: Lives, Culture, and Conquest in the East, 1750–1850, was awarded the 2005 Duff Cooper Prize and was a book of the year selection in numerous publications including The Economist, The Guardian, and The Sunday Times (London). She has recently been a fellow of the New York Public Library, the Library of Congress, and the American Council of Learned Societies and has contributed essays to the London Review of Books, The New York Times Magazine, and The New York Review of Books .

A fine book will look almost like the day it was bought, a VG one will have some evidence of prior ownership, G means a nice clean copy, obviously secondhand & P implies a COMPLETE copy that has suffered a hard life & will need some TLC. We take into account the books age when grading, so a 250 year old book graded as VG will look more second hand that a 5 year old book graded the same. On the Net since 1998. All prices are in GBP.
