London: Sampson, Low & Marston, 1868. First edition. Hardcover. Very good condition. With an albumen print photograph frontispiece of a painted portrait of Audubon wearing a fur collared cape.
8vo, frontispiece portrait, vii, 366pp, ads (24), uncut. Original green gilt decorated cloth, with highly decorative gilt title at spine. Slim damp mark along the back cover hinge, two chips with slight loss in the adverts at the rear, a small newspaper clipping laid down inside rear cover. Overall a very nice copy of the life of America's greatest bird portrait artist.
