London: John Murray, 1837. The Irish novelist, playwright, and poet (1730?-1774) is best known for "The Vickor of Wakefield' and "She Stoops to Conquer." Sir James Prior (1790?-1869) also wrote a biography of Edmund Burke. These are Very Good copies of the First Edition. Two volumes; large octavos. Marbled paper boards and endpapers; leather spine and tips. Raised bands on the spine, gilt. The spine labels are rubbed but most of the lettering is still present. Clean texts; 515 pages and 586 pages, indexed. Unfoxed; bright and supple paper; still readable today. The margins are rubbed and bumped Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Edition.. Half-Leather. Very Good/No Jacket.
