About This Item

Becket and Dehondt, 1762. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Seven volumes (bound in four) of the 9 volume novel, this set includes a total of six first edition books, two of which are signed. Volume one is a later printing from 1768. Volumes 5 and volume 7 are signed by Laurence Sterne. Reportedly Sterne signed many copies of the first edition of Volumes 5 and 7, like these, to prevent piracy. Missing from this set are two of the 9 volumes -- volumes 2 and 9. The four book set comes in a custom-made collector's slipcase.
