About This Item

Very scarce with the original covers, still in very good condition.
The Life and Works of Alfred Lord Tennyson in Twelve Volumes, Edition de Luxe Tennyson, Alfred Lord Published by Macmillan and Co: London 1898-1899, With 12 frontispieces, 4 plates, and 1 facsimile. 8vo. London, Macmillan & Co. Ltd., 1898-99. One of 1050 copies of this de luxe edition, dedicated to the Queen. 24 by 16 cm's, weighing a heavy 9.5 kilograms. Lovely set and scarce in this condition, very good and better. Rare to get with full original covers all intact, the majority of this De Luxe Edition have been rebound due to the delicate originals. Deep green crushed morocco cloth on board with gold gilt decoration to center, elaborate design on spines, which are bleached from sun and pages darkened on top from dust. Probably left sitting on a shelf for decades, unread as with a lot of these editions some of the pages are uncut, some sporadic light foxing throughout.
