Pittsburgh Historical Society, 1989. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. pp: 336. FIRST EDITION. A history of the, mostly rural, area east of Kingston, Ontario. It is bounded by The Rideau Canal, the St. Lawrence River, and, the Military Reserve and the Royal Military College. The area was first settled by United Empire Loyalists. It grew substantially when Protestant Irish moved onto the usable farmland. This history covers about 200 years, beginning with the pioneer settlements, and continuing into the late twentieth century. It is illustrated throughout with maps, street layouts, and family photos. The appendices include a list of those granted land by The Crown with location, date, name, and some remarks. Assessment records of the years 1822 to 1851, and members of the town council with date, name, and position. This is a near fine copy in a dust jacket with light wear at the spine ends.
