A first printing of Matthew Pinsker's description of time spent by Abraham Lincoln at a cottage on the grounds of the Soldiers' Home near Washington during his presidency. The cottage became a refuge for Mr. Lincoln as he used his time there to concentrate on key issues, such as problems with his Army generals and the shaping of the Emancipation Proclamation. With several black & white illustrations and photos as well as a couple of maps. --- In full pale blue and maroon paper-covered boards with spine titling in greenish foil. Jacket with photo of the Soldiers' Home to front panel. --- A clean, tightly-bound, bright copy but with a spot of printer's ink to dedication page and prior owner's signature to front free endpaper. Unclipped jacket lacks damages, is wrapped in removable archival mylar protector.; Tall Octavo - 9 to 10 in. tall; xiv, 256 pages .
