About the author

ANN AVERY ANDRES was born and raised in Long Beach, California in a family compound and was surrounded by family. She attended the University of Redlands and then UCLA from which she was graduated. She became a high school teacher and taught English in Japan while her husband, Eugen, was stationed in Yokosuka. She was the first American to receive a Japanese teaching credential. Ann also taught English and history in high schools in Long Beach. After moving to Santa Ana, California, Ann earn a J.D. degree in law and has for the past 35 years practiced with her husband. They have two grown children and five growing grandchildren. Beginning with a college course in creative writing, Ann has been writing poetry. "Looking Back..." is a collection of her poems over 50 years.
