About This Item
New York: General Protestant Episcopal Sunday School Union, 1851. Fine. The Kent, a British East Indian Company vessel bound for India in February 1825; loaded with passengers and tons of shot and shell she caught fire in the Bay of Biscay, and eventually exploded. The quick thinking and actions of Captain Cook, in command of the Cambria, bound from London to Mexico with members of the Anglo-Mexican company on board, saving the lives of 547 before the ship was lost.
Scarce New York edition of this classic account, which we have not seen before. With a contemporary owner signature at the title page, Edmund H. Hart 1851.
16mo, 46 pp, publisher's advertisement [2]. Printed paper wrappers, with title in black at front wrapper, within ornately decorated garlanded border printed in green. Rear wrapper with engraving of boat in heavy seas, within green printed border. OCLC: 55634583 records only 2 copies.
