Wear to spine caps and corners, scratches on rear. Text block has slight tanning to endpapers. Illustrated: b&w frontispiece portrait. Small pamphlet tipped in on rear pastedown: Janus at Seventy Five / Arnold J. Toynbee, Oxford University Press. Beneath pamphlet is note in ink stating this was Arnold Toynbee's copy of the book, given to him by his wife, as noted in the inscription on the book's front flyleaf.
