About This Item

New York: Modern Age Books, 1938. First Edition. Softcover. Spine faded, else very good with some light staining to interior pages.. First Edition. Softcover. This copy is boldly INSCRIBED by Saryoan on the inside front cover to his friend, the Italian Sculptor, Beniamino Bufano: "To my friend Beniamino Bufano, with great admiration / Bill Saroyan / ? 7 March 1938." Beniamino "Bene" Bufano (1890-1970) was an Italian American sculptor best known for his large-scale peace monuments and modernist works featuring smooth animal forms and simple shapes. Somewhat scarce early collection by the celebrated Armenian-American novelist. Being also signed to a prominent sculptor and friend of Saroyan makes this a unique and special association copy. 8vo, pictorial wrappers.
