About This Item

London: Faber and Faber. 1957. First edition, first printing. First edition, first printing. Publisher's original grey cloth lettered and ruled in gilt with titles in gilt over red to the spine, in dustwrapper. A fine, bright copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean throughout without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the bright, clean dustwrapper, a little rubbed to spine tips, with three short closed tears to edges (the longest c. 1 cm). An excellent example. Auden and Kallman's translation of Emanuel Schikaneder's original German libretto for Mozart's final opera was commissioned for a new television production of the work mounted to celebrate the bicentenary of the composer's birth. (Bloomfield and Mendelson A37b). Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.
