Good. large 8vo. b&w frontispiece plate Early issue of The Makar, the literary magazine of the English Society of the University of Queensland, being issue no. 5 March 1961, feature writer David Forrest; hand-tipped b&w plate of Forrest to reverse side of front cover; contains articles, poems, prose and reviews; The Makar ran from 1960-1965, after which it changes to 'Makar A Magazine of New Writing'; the early issues state simply issue number, and date, from 1965 is introduced 'volume # number #' and date; early issues are very scarce; large format 27 x 21cm, printed brown wraps, stapled (saddle-stitched), yapp edges; this copy with some offset from frontispiece plate, generally a little tired, but Good throughout; wraps rubbed, minor stains to rear, edgewear to yapp edges.
