Ross came to Canada in 1930 in the employ of the Hudson's Bay Company. His first book covered his first posting to Grassy Narrows. In this volume he takes up his account in 1941, when he was posted to Waterways, Alberta to manage the HBC store there. He provides a look at te fur trade in Northern Saskatchewan 50+ years ago.
