Housed in an illustrated cardboard slipcase. The book is the result of a project that led to an exhibition and national outpouring of love and admiration for the Belarus-Jew artist Marc Chagall, who emigrated to France. Two long essays by the author, "The Critics' Response to Chagall's Gouaches for the Fables of La Fontaine: 1920-1930," and "Chagall as Illustrator of La Fontaine's Fables or How to Leave Russia Behind and Become French." Quite fine, all around. 141 pp. and replete with fabulous full-color illustrations.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
