Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Child, Julia - 1970

Julia Child's Tour de force, this is a two volume hardcover set in a slipcover. Vol 1 is c. 1961, published in 1971 in it's twenty-first printing by Knopf. Binding is tight and pages are unmarked. Tiny stains visible on closed text block…see photo. Otherwise no writing or stains. DJ is in poor condition with rips around the edges – especially the top – a 1x.5inch chunk is missing at top center of the dj. Back of the jacket is folded over…again, see photo. Take off the jacket and the book is in very good condition. Vol II is c. and published in 1970. First two printings were "before publication" This is the third printing. As copyright and publication are the same year, this is likely a first edition though it does state. This volume is also clean – no writing or staining, binding is tight. DJ is in poor condition - a little better than vol. I – rip at top of the spine. Again, take off the jacket and this book is also in very good condition. The slip case has some fraying and the top right edge has come apart – about 4 inches. See photos for details.
