Lipsiae: Augustus Martini, 1733. Good. Ehrenfried Walther Von Tschirnhausens - Medicina Mentis Sive Artis Inveniendi Praecepta Generalia - 1733

Rare copy of this philosophical epistemological writing in Latin on questions of scientific method -

"Healing of the mind is a philosophia realis as opposed to verbal philosophia, a knowledge which is based on the thing and not just on the word. All knowledge is based on experience."

The part of the work with a distinct title, the Medicina corporis, is intended as an introduction to body consciousness in 12 rules, in opposition to the spiritual teaching -

Tschirnhausen studied mathematics, natural sciences and philosophy in Leiden, where he also came into contact with the greats of his time: Hyghens, Newton, Oldenburg, Spinoza and later in Berlin with Leibnitz. His considerations had a lasting influence on early Enlightenment such as Lambert and Christian Wolff.

He shares with Böttger the discovery of hard porcelain -
