Germany: self published, 1934. Book. Illus. by 207 mounted photos, about 1/3 postcards, plus a route map in color . Near Fine. Hardcover. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. A thick photo album 32 cm (12 1/2 inches) tall in brown cloth with a gilt title on the spine. Solid hinges, only a hint of edge wear. The ship was the Monte Rosa, departing Genoa - to Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Baalbek, Rhodes, Corfu and ending in Venice. This German tourist records what he saw, delays and inconveniences, and what he liked in 67 pages of typed German manuscript, interspersed with the black/white photos. This voyage would undoubtedly have been part of Hitler's Traumschiffe, "Die Kraft durch Freude KDF (Strength Through Joy. It was the world's largest tourist operation from 1934 to 193, part of the German Labor Front..The ship was only two years old, one class, and 700 passengers. .
