Lacking plate VII 'A ground plan of Ross, and a map of the adjacent country', which should appear facing page 407.Retaining the original half title. With the armorial bookplate of James Martin to the front pastedown, and a contemporary owner's inscription to the verso of the half title. In 1894, the Dictionary of National Biography claimed the work was 'so steeped in anticatholic prejudice as to be almost worthless historically', terming him 'a man of considerable talent, warped by blind prejudice and savage party spirit'.
