About This Item

Naval Institute Press, 1988. 1st edition. Hardcover. Very Good+/Very Good. Hardcover. Crisp red cloth boards with clean, crisp text pages. Black and red dust jacket shows light rubbing and scuffing. Very nice in protective mylar. The Deutschland was a uniquely designed u-boat, built with an exceptionally wide beam to carry cargo. It was Germany's desperate response to a british blockade that by 1916 had driven the regular merchant fleet from the seas, leaving Germany cut off from foreign markets and on the verge of economic collapse.
