About This Item
Boston: Goodspeed's Book Shop, 1955. Paperback. 12mo. Glossy pictorial wrappers. Various paginations (most ca. 25-35pp). Numerous illustrations. Near fine. Quite tight and bright and most of all LARGE grouping -- 102 issues, 15 complete volumes -- of the beloved Boston bookshop's charming newsletter and sales tool, which ran for four decades beginning with 1929. Each represents a charming compilation of books, documents, prints and even paintings for sale -- presented in a meaty format both instructional and entertaining. They describe it as "A conversational catalogue of books, prints, paintings and autographs. Published nine times each year, from October to June." (Volumes consist of #12 through #24 and #27 and #28.) The quality of the offerings are often mind boggling, the prices tear-inducing. (Volumes include #12 through #24 and #27 and #28.) Just for fun, we include with this large collection a copy of Goodspeed's 75th anniversary catalogue (Catalogue #575), an 8vo offering from 1973 listing and picturing (what else?) 75 special items.
