About This Item

Garden City: Doubleday, Page & Company, 1926. Conrad's collaboration with Ford is well-known and widely available, but here is an extremely scarce Conrad printing. This is a Near Fine copy of the First Trade Edition [stated "First Edition after the printing of 750 de luxe copies"], containing three plays: "Laughing Anne," "One Day More" and most interestingly, "The Secret Agent." Conrad's novel first appeared as a 3-act play in a 1923 English printing; but this American version is a four-act play. Blue cloth binding with titling in gilt on the spine and front cover, which also features a ship at sea. Clean text, absolutely pristine; 1x, 59 pages (including Appendix); xi, 34 pages; and 35 pages. "The Secret Agent" features two pages of set diagrams, a list of personae, Title Page, 129 pages. There is an inked name on the FFEP, and the spine gilt is a bit dulled. Else a Fine copy; in an archival plastic protector.. First Trade Edition.. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
