(7 3/8" x 5 1/4"); in the publisher's gray cloth binding, with decorations of crossed muskets in blue, and titling in dark red; 263 pages; with inscription on the pastedown "My heart's best thoughts | for my lovely friend, | Alice Duncan Pierrepont. | Montgomery, Ala. | Springtime of | 1910| |March."; with a bookseller's label from "Fowler's | Booksellers & Stationers | Montgomery, Ala."~~Given that the author was from Montgomery, the inscription is at the least suggestive.~~Krick tells us that this is "[a]n action filled novel constructed around the story of a crime and the accusation of an innocent man".~ (Krick 304). Very Good binding.
