About This Item

Printed for John Stockdale, Piccadilly. London. 1812. 2 volumes. 4to.. pp. (viii), 234. 30 [19 and 19*bis] engraved plates with additional hand-colour; (viii), (235)-503, (i) blank. 31 engraved plates with additional hand-colour. Both volumes rebacked, spine with raised bands and gilt decoration, new red morocco labels, both front boards are contemporary with corners repaired and a little edge wear, odd scuff and scratch, both rear boards are in new full calf with gilt line borders and corner ornaments, new rear marbled end-papers to match the front, a small tear in the fore-edge margin of plate 1, 10 text leaves in v.1 show creasing at the lower corners diminishing to each end but the central leaf of that group is torn in the corner with a small hole, none of which affects the text and the relevant plates 12-14 only show the faintest creasing at the lower margins, similarly in v.2, some 14 text leaves show even fainter creasing at the fore-edge margins also visible in plates 33-35, all edges gilt, scarcely any foxing and overall a very nice, clean set.
