Second Edition. xii + unpaginated text in two columns [definitions, etc] + [2 errata] + [1 - ads ] pages. 8vo. A4 a2 B-2K8 2L6. Complete. The SECOND EDITION, with large additions. Eighteenth century American bookplate (c. 1790) by Maverick (Erasmus Hall Library) on front pastedown. Several ex-library stamps on front flyleaf (creasing), and remnants of an early paper label on the spine. Full leather binding, with simple box in gilt around panels, and plain spine ruling with raised bands. Leather approaching dry, with crackling along the spine. Top compartment of spine panel lacking (glue residue). Rear pastedown endpaper lacking, showing cords embedded in rear board. Several signatures are proud. Boards. Stone was self-educated, and is perhaps best recognized by collectors of scientific instruments for his English translation of Bion's The Construction and Principal Uses of Mathematical Instruments in 1723. He published two editions of this mathematical dictionary.
